“Lost in the Stars: The Music of Kurt Weill.” A&M.; (Original recording: analog. No digital remix.) The 1985 album was an inspired idea: Match Weill’s challenging music with several adventurous artists from today’s pop and jazz. The CD adds a few more minutes: a furious jazz arrangement of “The Great Hall” from “Silver Lake” (Henry Threadgill); a brief, idiosyncratic “Meatball Song” (Elliot Sharp, Sussan Deihim); a looming “Hurricane Introduction” (Mark Bingham); and 1:44 more of instrumental music from “Johnny Johnson” (Van Dyke Parks). Performances and sound are “Mac the Knife”-sharp.
