Wilderness Experience Loss Is Down for Quarter
- Share via
Wilderness Experience, a Chatsworth maker of outdoor gear, lost $137,000 for its second quarter ended April 30, versus a loss of $255,000 for the same quarter a year ago. Sales in the same period were off 39%, to $1.1 million.
Per share, the quarterly loss was 2 cents a share, down from a loss of 5 cents a share in the year-earlier period.
Company President Greg Thomsen attributed the lower sales and continuing losses to a restructuring that included layoffs and a move to cheaper quarters last February. He said the loss was smaller than the loss in the same quarter a year ago because of cost cutting.
For the six months ended April 30, Wilderness Experience lost $302,000, or 4 cents a share, on sales of $2.2 million. That compared to a loss of $285,000, or 6 cents a share, on sales of $3.1 million in the same period a year earlier. The earnings per share were affected by the sale of nearly 2.2 million additional shares last August.
