Carolco--the firm that brought us both “Rambos”--is developing a David Giler script for Tri-Star called “M.A.D.D.” (Mutually Assured Defensive Deterrent). Since the acronym’s copyrighted by Mothers Against Drunk Drivers--and served as the title of a 1983 NBC movie about the organization--could M.A.D.D. be, well, mad?
Ron Servis, M.A.D.D.’s national public affairs director, hadn’t heard of the pic when Outtakes called, and told us he’d discuss it with the producers.
A Carolco rep said the name is “just a working title. If it becomes an issue, Carolco probably won’t pursue it.”
