The woman stabbed to death in the parking lot of the College Grove Shopping Center on Saturday afternoon was identified by San Diego police Sunday as Dona Shenkman, 47, of San Diego.
The woman’s alleged assailant, identified by police as Anthony Robert Salas, 30, of San Diego, stabbed himself in the left upper chest and pierced his liver. He was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he was listed in guarded condition Sunday.
Police Sgt. Charles Mattingly said about 15 persons witnessed the attack on the woman, which apparently was a bungled robbery attempt.
