Pomona : Ground Broken for Factory

Pioneer Electronics Technology Inc., a manufacturer of stereo cabinetry, has broken ground for a $9-million factory to be built with assistance from the Pomona Redevelopment Agency.
The 180,000-square-foot facility at Holt and Union avenues is expected to generate $50,000 annually for the Redevelopment Agency and to create up to 285 new jobs within its first two years of operation, said Bridget Distelrath, assistant to City Administrator Ora Lampman.
Pioneer, which also will contribute to the city’s general fund through local utility tax payments, paid nearly $3 million for the 17-acre site, which was assembled from several separate land parcels under the city’s power of eminent domain.
