The UCLA School of Medicine has received a gift of $5 million dollars for its new program in Psycho-Neuro-Immunology.
The donation was made by the late Mrs. William Bettingen, daughter of one of the founders of the city of Beverly Hills and widow of William Bettingen, a former director of the Beverly Hills Land Corp. She died March 26.
The gift was made through Norman Cousins, a member of UCLA’s special task force in psycho-neuro-immunology. The new program involves faculty researchers from disciplines such as immunology, psychiatry and neurosciences who are interested in exploring the effects of thoughts, moods and feelings on the immune system.
