SACRAMENTO — The Assembly this morning sent Gov. George Deukmejian $1.8 billion in bond measures for construction of classrooms, prisons and clean-water projects, but left unresolved the remainder of a $2.3-billion bond package intended for the November ballot.
Final passage of bills authorizing $800 million in bond sales for school construction and $100 million for clean water came shortly before the Assembly adjourned at 1:20 a.m. The Legislature is scheduled to begin a monthlong summer recess at the end of business today.
