Three throwers on Canada’s track and field team--including national discus champion Rob Gray--were barred from further competition pending an investigation to determine if they used performance-enhancing drugs.
Gray, 29; Mike Spiritoso, 23, the country’s shotput champion, and shotputter Peter Dajia, 22, all of Toronto, were suspended by the Canadian Track and Field Assn. after a series of tests indicated they had used anabolic steroids--drugs that can increase an athlete’s bulk and strength.
