Five more nations joined the Commonwealth Games boycott, bringing to 14 the number of countries refusing to participate unless Britain changes its opposition to economic sanctions against South Africa.
Zambia and Zimbabwe announced their decision to boycott following a meeting of the six Frontline State leaders in Harare, Zimbabwe.
However, Botswana, also a member of both the Commonwealth and the Frontline States, chose not to boycott.
Shortly after the announcement in Harare, the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago said it would not compete in the games July 24-Aug. 2 at Edinburgh, Scotland.
Jamaica quickly followed with a similar announcement.
Meanwhile in New Delhi, the Press Trust of India reported that India also had decided to join the boycott. Official confirmation was not immediately available.
