Local News in Brief : Freeway Crash Victims Freed by Firefighters

Amother and her two young children were seriously injured Sunday morning when their car went over the edge of the southbound Hollywood Freeway near Lankershim Boulevard in North Hollywood.
The victims, whose names were not released, were trapped inside their vehicle for a time after the 12:15 a.m. accident until firefighters were able to free them, Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman Jim Williamson said. The woman was taken to Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital while her children, reportedly 7 and 9 years old, were taken to Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles, Williamson said.
The cause of the accident was not immediately known, authorities said.
