A total of $28,500 has been approved by the ABC Unified School District Board of Education to upgrade the earthquake and disaster emergency equipment supplies at the district’s 29 schools.
The board Monday approved the expenditure of $18,000 to place standardized emergency kits, which include school evacuation plans, medical supplies and bottled drinking water, at each site for the 1986-87 school year.
Another $10,500 was approved for the purchase of hand-held, two-way radios for each school for communication with the district administration office.
The money will come from the district’s 1985-86 lottery funds, which total $2.9 million.
