SMITHFIELD, R.I. — The New England Patriots reduced their roster to 94 players Wednesday by waiving offensive lineman Larry Baker of Cal State Fullerton.
The team also announced that reserve offensive lineman Art Plunkett, who injured his left knee in the Hall of Fame game Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals, underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a cartilage tear Wednesday at Massachusetts General Hospital.
The Patriots did not say when Plunkett, 6-feet 8-inches and 280 pounds, would return to play.
Baker had signed with the NFL team after playing May 10 in the Patriots’ annual tryout day for free agents.
