The State : Pope’s L.A. Visit Planned

Pope John Paul II, scheduled to visit Los Angeles as part of a nine-day visit to the United States in September, 1987, will make an appearance at either Dodger Stadium, the Rose Bowl or the Coliseum, according to an itinerary released by the Archdiocese of San Francisco. The Los Angeles appearance will occur near the end of a tour beginning Sept. 9. It will take the Pope to Miami, New Orleans, San Antonio, Tex., and either Phoenix or Tucson, Ariz. The tour will conclude in San Francisco, where he may hold Mass in Candlestick Park, said Msgr. Francis Lacey, head of the committee planning the visit.
