Shilos Open Softball Championship in Texas

The Shilos, a Valley-based softball team of girls 16-18 years old, will play the Challengers from Alvin, Tex., tonight in a first-round game at the Amateur Softball Assn. National Championships in San Antonio, Tex.
The Shilos qualified for the 37-team, double-elimination tournament by finishing fourth in the nation last year.
Debbie Day of Burbank High, Christy Alves of Burroughs and De Dow of Canoga Park are all part of the Shilo pitching staff. Other Valley-area players include Tracy Murray, a second baseman from Campbell Hall and Liz Haigh, a first baseman from El Camino Real.
