Firefighters doused two lightning-sparked blazes in Bodie State Park near Bridgeport. “The town of Bodie became a ghost town when a major fire hit in the late 1800s,” said Donna Graves of the Interagency Dispatch Center and Command. “These (new) fires burned within 1 1/2 miles of the ghost town, which was our main concern.” No injuries were reported in the fires, which covered about 700 acres and cost more than $688,000 to suppress, Graves said. The park, about 290 miles north of Los Angeles, was closed for two days.
