Trabuco Hills High School, which was 2-8 last year against primarily junior varsity opponents, scored its first varsity win Friday night by defeating Southern California Christian, 15-0, at Mission Viejo High School.
The Mustangs were led by the passing of quarterback Brett Miller, who completed six of 14 attempts, including a touchdown pass to his favorite target, wide receiver Jeff Dooley.
Joe Scienski led the Trabuco Hills ground attack with 80 yards in 12 carries, and Ray Walters added 36 yards in eight carries.
Trabuco Hills held Southern California Christian quarterback Shawn Crawford to just one completion in eight attempts.
The Trabuco Hills victory avenged a 20-to-13 loss to the Flames in 1985. The Mustangs begin play in the newly formed Olympic League next week, and Southern California Christian will begin play in the Pacific Coast League.
