A 75-year-old Bakersfield woman who awoke to find a gunman in her bedroom got a gun of her own and shot the intruder, Kern County sheriff’s deputies said. The robber fled and was not found by officers, despite the use of bloodhounds. Investigators said the woman reported the intruder was trying to steal her purse.
