Jury selection began in the $2-million personal injury damage trial by a photographer against tennis champion Martina Navratilova--and her $4-million countersuit--after lawyers failed to settle out of court in New York.
The lawsuits stem from an incident at the 1982 U.S. Open, in which Arthur Seitz alleged Navratilova grabbed his camera and “viciously attacked him” when he sought to photograph her after her defeat by Pam Shriver in the quarterfinals.
