In the interesting item by Pat H. Broeske previewing the upcoming book “Bitch--The Autobiography of Lady May Lawford,” considerable attention was given to the obvious disparity in age between my wife Lady Lawford and me (Outtakes, Sept. 7).
Her last husband, Sir Sydney Lawford, was 45 years older than she was. Her son, actor Peter Lawford, married three wives that were younger than his children by Patricia Kennedy.
My fellow UCLA graduate school classmates seemed to place the situation in clear perspective by referring to Lady Lawford and me as “the Harold and Maude of society.”
