Harvard 14, Hoover 7--The Saracens ground out 224 yards rushing to defeat the Tornadoes in a nonleague game at Glendale High.
Harvard senior running back Randy Bell had 27 carries for 121 yards and a touchdown. Alex Huh added 105 yards on 16 carries and scored on a 35-yard touchdown run for the Saracens (2-1).
Hoover (1-2) had its finest moments on defense. The Tornadoes made two successful goal-line stands and scored their only touchdown when linebacker Steve Hieber ran 39 yards with a recovered fumble. Hieber and senior defensive tackle Mike Porras also had one sack each, throwing Harvard quarterback Mike Patterson for identical 11-yard losses.
