Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., said second-quarter revenue and net income both rose 6% from a year earlier. James Wood, the Montvale, N.J.-based company’s chairman and chief executive, said a loss of interest income because of start-up costs for expanded stores was offset by improved operating income. Operating income rose 14% over 1985, while interest income fell 36%.
