Westminster at Crespi, 7:30 p.m.: Although Westminster (1-1-1) was ranked 17th in the nation by a USA Today preseason poll, the Lions were tied by Valencia and were beaten last week by El Toro, 21-0. Crespi (3-0), ranked No. 2 in the Valley area by The Times, has outscored its opponents, 107-7.
Westlake at Simi Valley, 7:30 p.m.: This Marmonte League opener matches two surprisingly successful teams. Westlake (2-1) defeated highly regarded Lompoc two weeks ago, and Simi Valley (3-0) has combined a strong defense with a high-powered passing attack.
Crenshaw at San Fernando, 8 p.m.: Crenshaw (2-0) defeated Kennedy, the most highly touted Valley 4-A team, 15-13, two weeks ago. San Fernando (1-1), the defending Valley 4-A champion, is honing its wishbone offense.
Reseda at Poly, 8 p.m.: Reseda (2-0) has defeated two 3-A teams, while Poly (2-0) has beaten one. This is a 2-A Pac 8 League opener, and the winner should challenge for the title.
