San Diego Volleyball : Top-Ranked San Diego State Rallies to Beat UCLA

The No. 1-ranked San Diego State women’s volleyball team rallied to defeat UCLA at Pauley Pavilion Wednesday night, 15-8, 7-15, 14-16, 15-8, 15-10. The Aztecs are 22-0, the best start ever. UCLA is 11-4.
SDSU’s Kim Harsch and Sally Larsen each had 20 kills. Kris Morton, with 19 kills and 10 blocks overall, capped the comeback with six kills in the fifth game. Liane Sato, starting setter for the Aztecs, sat out the match with cartilage damage in her right knee. It will be determined today if she needs arthroscopic surgery.
UC San Diego, No. 1 in the latest NCAA Division III poll, beat Occidental at UCSD Wednesday, 15-9, 15-13, 11-15, 15-3. UCSD is 21-3 and Occidental fell to 2-8.
USIU (9-10) defeated USD (0-10) in straight sets at the USD Sports Center, 15-4, 15-2, 15-11, in the West Coast Athletic Conference opener for both teams. USIU’s Nancy Dome had 13 kills, and teammate Anita Rodriguez added 10.
