Marshall Fundamental 12, Village Christian 6 (OT)--Alvin Rhodes scored on a three-yard run to give the Eagles (1-3) an overtime victory over Village Christian (1-3) at Kennedy High in the Alpha League opener for both teams.
The California tie-breaker rule came into effect after the two teams battled to a 6-6 tie in regulation play.
Both teams got a chance to score on four plays from the opposing team’s 10-yard line. After Marshall Fundamental scored on Rhodes’ run, the Crusaders failed to respond as quarterback Chris Johnson was sacked by Marshall Fundamental’s Gary Hall on the Crusaders’ last play to end the game.
