A local affiliate of Literacy Volunteers of America will receive a check for $1,500 in state revenue-sharing money at an open house Wednesday. County Supervisors Roger R. Stanton and Harriett Wieder will present the check for reading materials and supplies. Four hundred invitations have been sent to community leaders, and the public is invited.
In October, the organization received a $21,500 education grant from the Department of Education for computer equipment.
The open house will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Huntington Beach Library, 7111 Talbert Ave.
