Jack Rappuchi caught two touchdown passes and scored on a 23-yard interception return to lead Marshall Fundamental to a 39-7 victory over L.A. Lutheran on Saturday in an Alpha League game at L.A. Baptist.
Junior quarterback Lawayne Byrd, who completed 3 of 8 passes against a gusty wind, hit Rappuchi with first-quarter scoring throws of 33 and 18 yards to give Marshall Fundamental (3-5, 3-2) an early lead.
L.A. Lutheran (1-7, 1-4) cut the gap to six on a 52-yard bomb from quarterback Jeff Young to Mark Tietjen just before the half.
But Young, who was 10 of 25 passing for 122 yards, was intercepted three times in the second half as Marshall Fundamental pulled away for its third victory in five league games.
Alvin Rhodes, who led all rushers with 129 yards on 11 carries, swept 20 yards for a third-quarter touchdown.
Only two minutes later, Rappuchi gave the Eagles a 31-7 lead with a thrilling interception return.
