2 Short Story Writers to Receive Pen Award

California winners of the Pen Syndicated Fiction Project short story competition will be honored at a reading and reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday at UCLA.
Mimi Albert and Judith Minty each will receive $1,000 prizes and will read their winning entries. Guests will include Malcolm Boyd, president of Pen’s Los Angeles Center, fiction project director Richard Harteis and Linda Venis, coordinator of the UCLA Writers’ Program.
The program is sponsored through grants from the Giles W. and Elise G. Mead Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
The event is free to the public. Reservations are being accepted by the UCLA Writers’ Program, (213) 825-9416.
