RICHLAND, Wash. — A supervisor has been fired and three other employees disciplined for improperly storing N Reactor fuel rods at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, UNC Nuclear Industry officials said Tuesday. UNC operates the N Reactor for the federal Energy Department.
The four reportedly loaded a metal storage basket with 75 fuel elements on Oct. 18, UNC spokesman Steve Irish said. UNC regulations limit the number of elements per container to 38. Officials said there was no danger of radiation leakage.
