Leave it to President Reagan to ignore inconvenient facts that do not fit his ideology. In trying to minimize the Senate loss he noted that several races were very close. What he did not mention: that 17 of the prior 21 close races in the past six years went to Republicans and that the Democrats were heavily outspent then as they were now. Give the Democrats an even chance and things will not be close!
