4 at Cal Accused of Rape to Apologize

Four University of California football players who were accused of raping an 18-year-old female student have agreed to apologize to her, to undergo sex counseling and to perform unpaid university service.
“The resolution was what she wanted out of the case,” said university attorney Shelly Drake, who represented the freshman. The victim said she had been sexually assaulted Sept. 27 by the four men at a dormitory just off campus.
The Alameda County district attorney’s office declined to prosecute the four, saying there was insufficient evidence.
The players, who were not identified, remain on the Cal team. University officials also said they have ordered the suspects to move out of the area where the alleged rape took place.
