Ah, Wilderness

I certainly hope Forest Service workers spent some time camping alongside a “streamside management zone” and admiring the “viewsheds” before they started staring at their printouts and CRTs. A computer model doesn’t teach anyone the inherent value of nature. And the alphabet soup and military-like titles do nothing more than obscure the issue and prevent citizens from effectively taking part in the wildlife-management process. Perhaps the Forest Service managers should be reading books like Chris Stone’s “Should Trees Have Standing?” as they plan.
