Barricaded Man Found Dead

A four-hour standoff between police and a Chatsworth man who barricaded himself in his home with his 13-month-old granddaughter as hostage ended shortly before noon today, when SWAT team officers entered the home and found the child unharmed but Frank Boren, 49, dead.

There was no immediate word on whether the man died of a self-inflictedgunshot wound or in an exchange of gunfire with police. He had holed up inside the home after arguing with his estranged wife, who escaped with the couple’s 23-year-old daughter and called police. He fired twice at officers who surrounded the house, but no officers were wounded, police said.
