Girls’ Roundup : Smith Leads Edison Past Woodbridge

Senior center Kristi Smith scored 22 of her game-high 23 points in the second half Friday night to lead Edison High School to a 55-40 victory over Woodbridge in a semifinal game of the Irvine Tournament.
Denise Ogburn added 12 points for Edison and teammate Michelle Hennessey tied a school record with 12 assists.
No. 2 Edison (3-0) plays No. 1 Brea-Olinda for the championship tonight at 7:30 in the final.
Fullerton 56, Western 35--Vicki Silva scored 20 points to lead the Indians past the Pioneers in a semifinal game. Sabrina Welsh added 9 points and 14 rebounds for Fullerton. Nina Petersen led Western with 11.
In nonleague:
Mission Viejo 88, Corona del Mar 24--Trieia Stringam scored 14 points to lead the Diablos at Mission Viejo. Jennifer Petrucci scored 13 points, Suzy Powers added 11 and Christie Wile scored 10 and had 9 assists for the Diablos.
Ocean View 43, San Gabriel 25--Dalene Lawson scored 15 points and Christa Lawson had 10 to lead the Seahawks (1-1). Erin Longo led San Gabriel (0-3) with 10 points.
Brea-Olinda 70, Ontario 38--Susan Tousey scored 15 points and Kristen Blair and Kristen McPhee had 14 each to lead the Wildcats (3-0).
La Quinta 59, Trabuco Hills 30--Junior center Donna Gonringer scored 16 points and had 8 rebounds to lead the Aztecs in the consolation semifinal game. La Quinta plays Irvine for the consolation title today at 1:30.
In the Fullerton Tournament:
Katella 62, El Modena 39--The Knights (2-0) routed the Vanguards (1-1) in a semifinal game of the winners’ bracket.
