Prep Soccer : Esperanza, Canyon Advance to Tournament Semifinals

Esperanza and Canyon High Schools advanced to the semifinals of the Orange High soccer tournament Saturday.
Esperanza, which won two matches, will play Dominguez at 1 p.m. next Saturday. Canyon, which also won both its matches, will play La Serna at 3 p.m. The winners advance to the tournament final Dec. 20 at Chapman College.
Twelve teams participated in the tournament at Orange High School, with play divided into four divisions.
Esperanza advanced by beating Orange, 2-0, and Leuzinger, 5-0. Canyon defeated Damien, 1-0, and Salesian, 16-0.
Dominguez routed Santiago, 8-1, and tied Alta Loma, 1-1. The other semifinal team, La Serna, beat Mission Viejo, 2-1, and tied Brea-Olinda, 0-0.
Orange will face Alta Loma Saturday at 11 a.m. and Mission Viejo will play Damien at 1 p.m. Saturday with the winners meeting for fifth place. Orange beat Leuzinger, 3-1, for its only victory Saturday.
Mission Viejo split its matches Saturday. The Diablos beat Brea-Olinda, 2-0.
In the Irvine tournament:
Dana Hills 4, Woodbridge 1--Mike Ronca and Gabe Smith each had two goals for Dana Hills (3-0).
In nonleague action:
Magnolia 0, Troy 0--The Sentinels (0-0-2) and Troy played to a scoreless tie at Magnolia High School.
