Westminster : Motorist Arrested in Pedestrian’s Death

A 39-year-old motorist was arrested after his car struck and killed a 75-year-old woman who was walking in the traffic lanes on Pacific Avenue, police said Sunday.

Doris Klatt of Westminster died at the scene of the accident, which occurred about 5 p.m. Saturday, police said. The driver of the car, Sherwood Crane of Westminster, was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter, police said.

Crane was taken to County Jail where he was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail. Results of blood-alcohol tests were not available, but police said an investigation was continuing.
