DOUGLASS, Kan. — A recall election has been set for Mayor John Patrick Doyle, who tossed a $100 bill on a table at a City Council meeting to back up his claim that he could whip a council member or the entire council at once.
Doyle, 49, calls his statement a joke, but council members and townspeople who launched a petition drive for his recall say it was a threat. Voters will decide whether to turn the mayor out of office in a March 3 election.
