SACRAMENTO — Bomani Parker, 19, of the United States, mounting an aggressive attack in the third round, defeated 165-pound world champion Angel Espinosa of Cuba, 2-1, in an international amateur boxing contest Thursday night at Arco Arena. But Cuba’s national team kept its perfect record against the United States intact with a 7-2 team victory.
The Cubans have never lost in 13 meetings since the two countries started their boxing series in 1977.
