First Jew to Lead Pensions Conference

SAVANNAH, Ga. — For the first time in its 72-year history, the Church Pensions Conference of about 80 Protestant, Roman Catholic and Jewish pension agencies has elected a Jew as its new president.
He is Leo J. Landes of Rockville Centre, N.Y., an insurance executive who represents the retirement board of the Conservative branch of Judaism. Usually the conference presidency has gone to major Protestant representatives.
