George Shirley says he has received no job offers, but “a lot of movie people” have expressed interest in his story. He said the school has had 30 calls from people who identified themselves as producers.
The Alisal High situation sounds like one of those self-fulfilling prophecies: i.e. Don’t invest too much in the kids as they’ll never be anything more than field hands. The kids then become field hands because they were never prepared for anything more.
