Airbus Industrie said that its A340 long-range aircraft, which is to make its debut in 1992, will be powered with a new type of engine, the V2500 super-fan engine, built by the U.S.-European engine-building consortium, International Aero Engines. International Aero Engines is a consortium of Rolls-Royce of Britain, United Technology’s Pratt & Whitney division, Japan Aero Engines Corp., Fiat Aviazione SpA of Italy and Moteren & Turbinen Union Muenchen GmbH of West Germany.
