Emergency restrictions on drinking water were lifted after tests showed the Daly City water supply had not been contaminated after all. Residents had been warned to boil all cooking and drinking water Tuesday after routine tests erroneously showed a high bacteria count in the city’s water supply. A second test later showed the water was safe to drink, officials said. The error was caused by test vials that had not been properly sterilized, said Don Fleming, director of community development. Until the mistake was discovered, patients at Seton Medical Center were given juice instead of water and bottled water to brush their teeth, while patrons of some bars went without ice cubes or water in their drinks, officials said.
