Swan Found Dead Near Cemetery Pen

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — A white male swan, part of a standing attraction at Riverside Cemetery, was found decapitated near its pen. Police speculated the 8-year-old swan became someone’s New Year’s dinner.
The mutilated remains were found by a woman who took her children to visit the swan and his mate in their enclosed wire pen near a small lake at the cemetery. The mate was unharmed.
