Match Ignites Christmas Tree, Killing Sitter, Child

NEW YORK — A 49-year-old baby-sitter and his 9-year-old charge died when a match ignited a dried-out Christmas tree, authorities said. One of the victims struck the match because the power had failed, Portchester Fire Chief Vincent Lyons said.
