Women’s Basketball Roundup : Aztecs Don’t Beat Clock or UC Irvine

San Diego State’s Jessica Haynes banked in what appeared to be a game-tying jump shot at the buzzer Saturday night against visiting UC Irvine, but officials ruled that time had expired before Haynes’ shot, leaving the Aztecs with a 50-48 loss in their first Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. game of the season.
Debbie Rinder had 11 points to lead SDSU (3-6). Shelda Arceneaux had 8 points and 10 rebounds for the Aztecs. UC Irvine was led by Cheryl Hoffman’s 12 points.
USD 93, Idaho 75--Karen Skemp made all 10 of her shots from the floor and ended up with 26 for the game. USD (5-6) controlled the game from the start and led at the half, 42-30. USD also outrebounded Idaho, 43-25.
For USD, Julie Evans and Jane Gilpin each scored 14 points and Kelly Schroeder added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Idaho (4-6) was led by Sheri Lehmer’s 26 points. Krista Dunn also scored 19 points and Paula Getty had 18 for Idaho.
