Dow Up 19, Flirts With 2,000

NEW YORK — The stock market kept its early-1987 rally going today with a broad advance that fell just short of the 2,000 level in the Dow Jones industrial average.
The Dow Jones average of 30 industrials closed up 19.12 to a record high of 1,993.95.
New York Stock Exchange volume was about 190.87 million shares compared with 189.30 million shares Tuesday.
