John M. Mason, former chief counsel of the Federal Railroad Administration, has become of counsel to the Washington, D.C., office of the law firm of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker.
Mason, 43, supervised major rail transportation safety and policy initiatives during his four years at the federal agency. As FRA’s chief legal officer, Mason oversaw such issues as railroad deregulation, privatization of Conrail and the revitalization of the nation’s rail system.
