Rosemead, Calif.-based Southern California Edison Co. reported increased net income for 1986 and the sixth consecutive year that the company has achieved record earnings. The increase reflects a continuing emphasis on cost-control and productivity, lower interest costs and preferred dividends resulting from the company’s aggressive refinancing program and a reward for favorable coal-plant operating performance under an incentive program established by the California Public Utilities Commission, a spokesman said.
