The Region : 7 Hurt in Laguna Canyon Road Crashes

Seven people were injured in a series of accidents involving six cars on Laguna Canyon Road, Irvine police said. The accidents occurred about 7:40 p.m., and Laguna Canyon Road was closed from the San Diego Freeway to El Toro Road for about three hours. None of the injuries was believed to be serious, although one of the victims, Juanita Vargas, 28, of Santa Ana, was airlifted to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where she was to be kept overnight for observation, police said. The other six victims, who were not immediately identified, were taken to Saddleback Community Hospital, Lt. Sam Allevato said.
