Orange County Prep Soccer : Harkins Breaks Record as La Quinta Girls Win

Kristin Harkins of La Quinta High School scored three goals Thursday to break the Orange County career scoring record as the Aztecs defeated Rancho Alamitos, 8-1, in a Garden Grove League girls’ soccer match at La Quinta.
Harkins has 130 goals in her four-year career, one more than Joy Biefeld scored for Edison from 1983-86. Harkins has scored 29 goals this season.
Robin Karnes scored her three goals for the second-straight game to give her eight goals on the season.
Goalie Leslie Schneider made three saves for La Quinta (3-0 in league and 17-3-1 overall).
In the Freeway League:
Rosary 3, Sunny Hills 1--Heather McNatt, Andrea Windle and Jeanie Murray scored to lead the Royalettes at Rosary.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Hills 8, Laguna Beach 0--Heather McIntyre scored two goals to lead the undefeated Hawks (3-0, 14-0-4), the No. 1-ranked team in the Southern Section 3-A division, over the Artists (1-1, 3-5) at Laguna Hills.
Goalie Lynn Lambert made five saves to record her 16th shutout of the season.
In the Sea View League:
Estancia 10, Saddleback 0--Elana Birch scored four goals, all in the first half, to lead the Eagles (3-1, 8-5) at Estancia.
Newport Harbor 4, Tustin 1--Heather Webb scored two goals as the Sailors (2-1-1, 5-7-1) beat the Tillers.
In the South Coast League:
San Clemente 2, Dana Hills 1--Dallas Phole scored on a direct free kick with 25 minutes left to break a 1-1 tie to give the Tritons (2-1-1) the victory at Dana Hills (1-2-1).
Nancy Pridham gave San Clemente a 1-0 lead with a goal 14 minutes into the first half. Dana Hills’ Michelle Tarullo tied the score six minutes later by scoring on a 16-yard kick.
Mission Viejo 3, Capistrano Valley 1--Kerri Kennedy, Erin Dunteman and Stephanie Cox scored as the Diablos came back after trailing early, 1-0, in a match at Capistrano Valley. Mission Viejo, the No. 1-ranked 4-A team, is 4-0 in league and 17-0-1 overall. Capistrano Valley is 2-1-1 in the league.
In the Sunset League:
Edison 1, Huntington Beach 0--Amy Lund scored at the 20-minute mark of the second half to give the Chargers the victory at Edison.
In boys’ Orange League soccer:
Brea-Olinda 3, Magnolia 1--Jared Burns scored the winning goal on a 25-yard shot in the second half as Brea (2-0-1, 8-4-3) extended their unbeaten streak to seven matches.
Magnolia (0-3, 2-9-2) led, 1-0, at halftime on a goal by Roger Crawford. Tony Catalano and David Stark also scored for Brea.
Western 2, Valencia 2--Western (2-0-2) held on to the Orange League lead with a tie.
