San Diego Men’s Basketball : Andrews Paces USIU Over Utica

SAN DIEGO — United States International University gained a 22-2 lead on its way to a 99-83 nonconference men’s basketball victory over Utica College in Golden Hall Saturday night.
USIU forward Kelly Andrews led all scorers with 27 points. Guards Russ Heicke and Mark Moses added 21 apiece for the Gulls (8-11), who equaled last year’s win total with the victory. Forward Dan Krebs led Utica with 19 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
The Gulls shot 59.4% in the first half; Utica shot 36.8%. USIU led, 52-36, at the half, but Utica rallied to trail 74-66 with 7:45 remaining before the Gulls again pulled away.
Point Loma Nazarene College 105, West Coast Christian 79--Clayton Williams scored 22 points and Dawayne Burton added 21 as all eight Nazarene players who suited up scored in the nonconference victory at Fresno. Steve Bruce added 17 for Point Loma Nazarene (16-6).
West Coast Christian’s Doug Pannell led all scorers with 27 points.
